God revealed His reason to share His secrets with Abraham in Genesis 18:19 by saying: For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment.
Job lived before Abraham, and we see the expression of the great commission in Job 1:5: The morning after each feast, Job would get up early and offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them. He always did this because he thought that one of them might have sinned by insulting God unintentionally.
The same commission was given to Israel through Moses in Deuteronomy 6:6-7: "These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children." Even Solomon, the wisest man ever born said, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.
Moreover, apostle Paul declared the same in Ephesians 6:4: Parents, do not treat your children in such a way as to make them angry. Instead, raise them with Christian discipline and instruction.
As the pastor of the Assembly, I purposed in my life to do whatever I can to step down to the level of these most precious community of parishioners and teach them at their level in the light of Psalms 78:1-4: Listen, my people, to my teaching, and pay attention to what I say. I am going to use wise sayings and explain mysteries from the past, things we have heard and known, things that our ancestors told us. We will not keep them from our children; we will tell the next generation about the LORD's power and his great deeds and the wonderful things he has done.
Apart from Bible teaching, our other aim is to foster a genuine sense of friendship, teamwork, togetherness and belonging among children from a younger age.
390. Brother Branham, what activities should our preteen children participate in. Also, how should we go about helping them select their associates?
73 Keep them in Christian company as long as you possibly can. Keep them with…If it’s a girl, keep her with Christian girls; Christian boys, vice versa. If she’s old enough to go with a boy, see that she keeps with the right kind of a boy. Discourage her to any boy otherwise, or boy to a girl. If she’s going with an unbeliever, try to encourage her to go with a believer, and vice versa. Make your home nice. Make your home a place where your daughter or son will not be ashamed to bring their company before their father and mother, and into their house; and make home so happy that they’ll be pleased in their home to stay there.
